COAD stands for "Community Organizations Active in Disaster" and they are a valuable asset when disaster strikes. A COAD is a volunteer-run network of local organizations, including nonprofits, businesses, faith-based organizations, educational institutes and civic and community groups. COADs aren't first responders but rather help members prepare, coordinate and strategize ways to serve their communities during a crisis. Check out this video of how a COAD can work!
